Get Your Fiesta On At Popular Museum In Eastern Iowa
Our community does an incredible job at finding fun ways to celebrate the different cultures and backgrounds of people in our area. One of those exciting events is coming up in early September and it's to raise money for a local scholarship program.
Once again, the Putnam Museum is excited to host LULAC’s annual Fiesta Night on Saturday, September 9th and you're invited. Before the fun begins that night, you also enjoy an exciting exhibit put on by the museum.
Putnam Museum Once Again Hosting LULAC Fiesta Night
LULAC’s annual Fiesta Night is a night of vibrant, cultural fun for all to enjoy. With mariachi music, food, and dancing, you and everyone else in attendance will be entertained by this amazing event.
That night, you'll also see performances by Quad City Ballet Folklorico, Mariachi Los Aguilares, and Crooked Cactus Band. It's not a fiesta without food. Delicious dinner will be catered by El Mariachi.
Michael Reyes parliamentarian of LULAC said in the announcement on Wednesday,
“As we prepare to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the QC, LULAC is proud to share our rich cultural heritage with the QC Community. Over the years our annual fiesta has help raise funds for our scholarship program. As we continue our collaboration with the Putnam Museum we would like to invite the QC community to this year’s Fiesta.”
The Putnam Museum will also be bringing out some Day of the Dead Skulls from the collection and displaying them all day Saturday.
How To Get Tickets To Fiesta Night In Davenport
LULAC Fiesta Night will begin at 5:00 pm that Saturday, September 9th with a social hour and music from Mariachi Los Aguilares. Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm, catered by El Mariachi, followed by the program and performances.
The Fiesta event is $20 per person at the door and includes the entirety of the event and dinner. The proceeds for this event benefit the LULAC scholarship fund which helps students attend college. For more information contact Toni at (563) 349-8297
Putnam's Monarchs & Mariachi Before Fiesta Night
Earlier in the day the Putnam will be celebrating Monarchs & Mariachi with activities and events all included in the price of museum admission. They will celebrate the migration of monarch butterflies throughout the day.
Starting at 2:00 pm the Putnam will have drop-in butterfly crafts, a photo booth, and a special tour of their new regional history exhibit Common Ground: Our Voice, Our Stories. The tour, led by expert Putnam staff, will focus on the Latino influence in the Quad Cities.
At 3:00 pm Flight of the Butterflies 3D will be shown in the GIANT Screen Theater. There is an additional charge for the movie.
From 4:00-4:45 pm, Mariachi Los Aguilares will play mariachi music throughout the museum. Museum guests are encouraged to enjoy butterfly activities and Latin culture during their visit to the museum.
