We're gonna start 2026 with a bang!

A lot of us love fireworks on the 4th of July and on New Year's Eve. But there's a reason there are certain hours you're allowed to set off fireworks.

Love them or hate them, you know you're going to hear fireworks on New Year's Eve and quite possibly for a few nights after. If you're the one setting them off at awful times, just know everyone hates your guts for it.

Timing of fireworks this year compared to last is a bit different thanks to a new Iowa law that passed last summer.

In both Bettendorf and Davenport, fireworks can be used from 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 31st-12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.

And of course, Rock Island and Moline don't allow consumer fireworks unless it's for a professional show or if you obtain a permit.

Fines for breaking the fireworks ordinances can cost you. In Davenport, your first fireworks offense will cost you $250 (plus court fees), your second offense is $400 plus court cost, and your third and every one after it is $625 plus court costs.

Obviously don't try to set off fireworks after you've had 2 bottles of champagne. Let the designated driver be the one to set off fireworks. You ooo and ahhh from the comfort of your chair. As with every holiday since Thanksgiving, don't drunk text your ex either. There are not any allowed hours for that.
