Chicago to get the world's first floating.

After a long winter, spring is finally here. I don't know about you, but I'm really looking forward to some outside activities. Luckily, we have several in our community and many more not far from us.

Chicago has something very unique coming soon. In fact, it's so special, this attraction will be the first of its kind in the world.

According to urbanmatter.com,

"A 17-acre in-stream river park is expected to make a stunning debut in Chicago, which could generate a major economic boom and promote a healthier ecosystem."

It's called Wild Mile Chicago.

"Wild Mile Chicago will be a floating eco-park located on the North Branch Canal of the Chicago River, a manmade channel along the east side of Goose Island between Chicago Ave and North Ave. Wild Mile Chicago was first conceived as part of the North Branch Framework Plan."

Not only will this be a fun place for residents and visitors to check out, but also will be great for the city's environment.

Here are some of the things it will provide.

  • Space for wildlife.
  • Healthier water.
  • Reducing traffic but offering a transportation alternative.
  • Location for gatherings.
  • A place for activities.
  • Trails for walking, running, and biking.
  • Bird-friendly.
  • Provide jobs to boost the economy.

I think this sounds like a great addition to the Windy City.
