Gov. Reynolds Adds More Restrictions In Iowa Due To COVID-19
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced on Tuesday that new restrictions will be put on gatherings due to an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced new COVID-19 restrictions and mitigation actions that will take effect on Wednesday, November 11 at 12:00 a.m.
Those mitigation efforts and restrictions include requiring people who are at an indoor event with 25 or more people, are now required to wear a mask. Those at a gathering of 100 people or more at an outdoor event will also be required to wear a mask. Events that those fall under include social, community, recreational, or sporting gatherings. Those under the age of 2 are not required wear a mask.
Groups of people that are attending these events are limited to 8 people unless they are from the same household. These groups must also maintain social distancing from other groups. While bars a restaurants are not forced to cap at 25 people, the requirement for social distancing and limiting 8 to a group is in effect for bars and restaurants.
When it comes to high school sports, Governor Reynolds said in her proclamation that only 2 spectators per youth athlete or participant are allowed to attend indoor youth and high school sporting or recreational activities. Outdoor activities are limited at 8 per youth athlete or participant.
Governor Reynolds' proclamation now also requires masks to be worn by customers and employees at businesses that provide personal services. Businesses like that include salons, barber shops, massage therapy, tattoos and tanning.
Bowling alleys, pool halls, bingo halls, arcades, indoor playgrounds, and children’s play centers are now required to ensure that groups and individuals remain six feet apart at the establishment. And groups at those establishments must also be limited to 8 people unless the entire group is from the same household.
This proclamation will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 10.
