Labor Day 2020 proved deadly after one man has died after a head on collision in Davenport. The crash happened late Monday night, and two children are also seriously hurt after the same crash.

According to KWQC, one man is dead and two children are seriously injured after a head on collision that took place late Monday night on River Drive in Davenport.

According to the press release from Davenport Police obtained by KWQC, Davenport police responded around 11:50 p.m. on Monday night to a report of a crash that was just west of the intersection of River Drive and Forest Road.

Police came to the conclusion that a Saturn, carrying two adults and two children, was traveling eastbound on River Drive and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. A pickup truck was traveling westbound on River Drive and struck the Saturn head-on while in the trucks westbound lane. According to police, the driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

The adult passenger in the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Saturn walked away with non-life-threatening injuries. The two children inside the Saturn suffered serious and potentially life-threatening injuries, according to KWQC.

Names of all involved in the crash are being withheld at this time as officials notify next of kin.

There is no new information as of Tuesday morning, but more details will be shared as officials release more information.
