Feeling like death the morning after a boozy night is why I quit drinking.

According to LA Weekly magazine, a hangover is basically formaldehyde poisoning. Yeah, the stuff with which they preserve dead bodies. Alcohol contains trace amounts of methanol, which the body converts to toxic formaldehyde. So, feeling like death wasn't far off the mark.

It's spotty science to begin with, but supposedly more alcohol will prevent the methanol in your body from converting to formaldehyde. Hence the invention of the Bloody Mary... in theory.

Highwood, Illinois is embracing the mixology of the Bloody Mary with a festival on July 30th. It's the 8th annual Bloody Mary Fest, paying tribute to the Sunday morning staple of Vodka, tomato juice, and a wide variety of toppings.

Leave the kids at home for this one. The event is from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Get more info on the Bloody Mary Fest Facebook page.
