Illinois Is In Top 10 Happiest States, Iowa In The Top 20

Well, many things but having a positive attitude and looking on the bright side of life can make you happy. But not everyone in each state is as happy as those in others. A new study has been released showing the happiest states and least happy states in America. Spoiler alert: the Quad Cities is pretty happy believe it or not.
A new study has come out from WalletHub which has given us 2022's Happiest States in America. How does a company find out which states are happier than others? In order to determine the happiest states in America, WalletHub compared the 50 states across three key dimensions:
- Emotional & Physical Well-Being
- Work Environment
- Community & Environment
WalletHub evaluated those dimensions using 30 relevant metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing maximum happiness.
Finally, WalletHub determined each state’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and ranked the states accordingly.
This is how happy the Quad Cities are, according to WalletHub's 2022’s Happiest States in America study.
WalletHub found that Illinois is happier than Iowa. Illinois was named the 8th happiest state in America. Illinois got an overall score of 58.59, and this is how Illinois ranked in the three key dimensions:
- Emotional & Physical Well-Being - 3rd
- Work Environment - 33rd
- Community & Environment - 34th
Iowa was deemed unhappier than Illinois but was still in the top 20. Iowa was named the 16th happiest state in America and got an overall score of 55.57. This is how Iowa ranked in the three key dimensions:
- Emotional & Physical Well-Being - 21st
- Work Environment - 6th
- Community & Environment - 29th
