'Tis the season for food!

I grew up with dogs and they were all dogs that loved to hang around the kitchen. Surely something would get dropped (either intentionally or not) and they would get a quick snack.

The Humane Society of Scott County reminds us all of some common Thanksgiving table staples that are good for dogs and some that are toxic for dogs.

Two important reminders in general: make sure the trash is secured so the dogs/pets can't get in it and make sure there's somewhere quiet in the house that the pet can sneak off to in case being around so many people is stressful.

But things like apples, turkey meat, pumpkin, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, and cooked corn are all acceptable things to feed dogs on Thanksgiving.

You don't need another thing to do on Thanksgiving but keep an eye on your pets around all of the food this holiday season. Secure the leftovers, the trash, and keep things that aren't good for them out of reach from the dogs. Happy Thanksgiving and keep the furbabies safe!
