If you or I found out we won a big chunk of cash from a scratch-off ticket, we probably would have a hard time believing it was true too. An Eastern Iowa couple was pretty much in shock after finding out they won thousands of dollars from the Iowa Lottery.

The couple from Davenport claimed their $25,000 lottery prize last week and I'm sure they are still in shock. Bradley Sprout and his wife is going to be able to pay off some bills now after winning big with the Iowa Lottery.

Davenport Man Wins Big With The Iowa Lottery

Earlier this month, the Iowa Lottery announced that a Davenport man said he and his wife didn't know what to think after he scratched off a $25,000 lottery prize. Sprout, 51, won the second prize of $25,000 in the "$500,000 CA$H" scratch game.

"My mind just went blank," Bradley Sprout said with a laugh on Friday as he claimed his prize at the lottery's Cedar Rapids regional office. "I said, 'Honey!' And I showed her. And she said, 'No way!'"

He bought his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 2900 Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf, where he stopped to redeem a $500 prize he'd won on an earlier ticket. He decided to use some of his winnings from that prize to buy another ticket.

When he got back to his truck, Sprout, who works in manufacturing, scanned the ticket with the Iowa Lottery mobile app and was shocked to see $25,000 on the screen. He said his wife, Michelle, refused to believe him.

"She didn't believe me, so I hurried up and scratched off my ticket, and the first number on there was the winner," he said. "she had to actually see me scratch the ticket to believe me."

Sprout said he and his wife plan to use the winnings to pay bills.
