Iowa’s In Top 5 States With Employers Struggling The Most To Hire

Businesses large and small across the country are struggling to find people to work. Fortunately for businesses in some states, they aren't struggling as much to find people during this labor shortage than other states. Unfortunately, Iowa isn't one of those states. As a matter of fact, Iowa is in the top 5 states that have employers struggling the most to hire.

WalletHub has updated its list of States Where Employers Are Struggling the Most in Hiring. This time around, the Hawkeye state is in the top 5 states doing a lot of the struggling, not hiring.

In order to determine which states are struggling still more than others, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia based on two metrics (corresponding weights included):

• Job Openings Rate - Latest Month: Double Weight
• Job Openings Rate - Last 12 Months: Full Weight

WalletHub then used these metrics to rank-order the states and Washington D.C. from those that struggle the most with hiring to those that struggle the least. What they found is that Iowa continues to struggle and Illinois employers could be better, too.

What WalletHub found was that Iowa is the 5th state with businesses struggling the most to hire. The job opening rate in the latest month in Iowa was 8%. In the last 12 months, it's at 6.97%

Illinois is in the top 20 of WalletHub's updated list at 18th. Illinois' job opening rate in the latest month was 7.30%, and in the last 12 months, it has been at 6.98%.

At #1 on this list is one of the least populated states, Alaska. At #51 is one of the most populated states, New York.
