Niabi Zoo Hosting Food Drive To Support The River Bend Foodbank
The holiday season is a time for giving back to those in need. To support the River Bend Foodbank and Feeding America this holiday season, the Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley is hosting an almost month-long food drive and they are encouraging you to donate much-needed food items.
If you look in your cabinets and cupboards right now, there are most likely non-perishable food items that are still good and that could go to someone in need. To make a difference for those in the Quad Cities this holiday season, you can take those non-perishable food items to your favorite Quad Cities zoo, the Niabi Zoo.
On Thursday, officials from the Niabi Zoo announced in a press release that starting Monday, November 22nd through Monday, December 20th, the Niabi Zoo is hosting a food drive. Food items donated will be given to the River Bend Foodbank in the Quad Cities to be given to people and families who use the foodbank.
Donations can be made at the Niabi Zoo Administration Office (13010 Niabi Zoo Road
Coal Valley, IL 61240) between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Niabi Zoo officials note that those dropping off food items should see the table outside offices for details.
The most-needed items include:
- Canned meats
- Canned stews and chili
- Peanut butter
- Canned soups
- Tuna
- Cereal
- Canned vegetables and fruits
Niabi Zoo officials say that all non-perishable food and non-expired food items are accepted. The food collection is sponsored by Quad Cities American Association of Zookeepers. Visit the Niabi Zoo's website for more details.
