October Is The Perfect Month To Spot Mars
Yesterday night as I left my families home in Cedar Rapids Iowa, I looked up and saw Mars. I've seen it before, but not like this. My family lives out in the country with no light pollution, and it was amazing, but even with light pollution many can still see mars this month.
The best part was how orange it looked. Really getting us all into the Halloween spirit.
All of October should be a good time to see mars. NASA even stated,
"Simply go outside and look up and, depending on your local weather and lighting conditions, you should be able to see Mars."
Another great time to look up at Mars is on October 13th,
When Mars and the sun line up with Earth in the middle, the red planet is said to be in opposition. This is a perfect time to track Mars' movement across the sky.
It's important to note that it will rise in the east as the sun goes down, moving across the sky and then set in the west as the sun comes up.
This will be the best time to observe it since 2018. So while 2020 hasn't been the best year on earth, when it comes to Mars... It's been great. See more about Mars here.
