When I went outside in five layers of clothing, trimmed with hat, scarf and my trusty gloves, I was ready to take on snowmageddon. I was determined. I was hopeful. I was...out of breath after five feet of shoveling! Man is this snow heavy!

I decided to check the drifts to see how deep they were.  When I made my way to the halfway point, the snow was past my knees.  As I went deeper in, it was to my hips! I'm a short girl but even that was too much for me! My optimism quickly waned and I started to feel like I would be up until 5am shoveling just to make it to work.

Could it be?! Yes! A truck with a snow plow! I suddenly had to figure out how I was going to convince him to leave what he was doing in order to plow me out. I acted quickly and ran over there. I was out of breath but I didn't care. I HAD to get out of my driveway and to work today.

Explaining my dilemma, I offered to pay for them to help me for 10-15 mins.  I was like a kid in a candy store when I saw him pull into the driveway, plows down! Snow started to fly, my eyes got bigger and my smile, wider as each scoop for him equaled a half hour or more of shoveling for me. I climbed in the truck with my new buddy, Andrew from Layer Construction in Milan and started interviewing him.  He was so nice and nice-looking, which didn't hurt a thing!

When I asked him what I owed him, he said "...just pay it forward." I was stunned.  It meant so much to me to be able to go to bed and get some sleep before coming in at 5 a.m.  This meant that I could now pick up Olivia on the way to work because she was snowed in too! One act of kindness helped several people today and made my world easier and less-stressed. And that, is always priceless.

Thank you, Andrew and Layer Construction!
