I love it when our community comes together and helps meet the basic needs of children.

Sometimes, I truly believe some teachers are just angels walking this earth. There are many who have inspired, encouraged and helped our kids far beyond 'the call of duty.' I have seen it with my own eyes and it touches my heart, every time.

I was lucky enough to have a several teachers in my life who inspired me in ways no one else could. And the sad truth is, for some children, the teachers at school may be the only adult in their lives to show they care on a level that goes above and beyond lessons and notebooks.

I only now just saw this GoFundMe page, started by the school counselor, Sterling Kingery,  at Edison Jr. High School in Rock Island. I didn't realize how much students needed, what he calls, 'Maslow Supplies.'

I was so happy to see the goal had been surpassed but I can't help but still feel we all can help more. Let's make sure that pantry is stocked for years to come.

What can you do to help?  Let's keep this conversation going.
