Ms. Helkenn was nominated by 14 people! Colleagues, students and friends all nominated Jamie and they want her to know that they love her and are thinking of her during her fight with breast cancer!

Here are what a few people who nominated Ms. Helkenn said about her:

"I am nominating Jamie Helkenn for teacher of the week.  Jamie is a 4th grade teacher at Fillmore Elementary in the Davenport Community School District.  Jamie is an amazing teacher who shows so much respect to her students.  She is calm, caring and is a great listener who advocates for her students.  She is an awesome staff member who lifts others up and always has a positive attitude and a kind word.  Jamie is continuing to teach full-time online while she battles cancer.  She attends our staff meeting online and continues to support her students and her 4th grade team members.  There is no better teacher than Jamie to be awarded the B100 teacher of the week. "

"I am a special education teacher who works with Jamie Helkenn. She is currently going through chemo while teaching online full time, attending our staff meetings virtually and testing kids throughout the week. I believe this deserves some recognition. She is a wonderful colleague and teacher. Please select her for the teacher of the week."

"Jamie is battling one of the toughest fights of her life.  At the young age of 40 she discovered she had breast cancer.  Jamie continues to teach 4th grade in an online format.  Although many days during and after her chemo treatment, she feels very ill, Jamie continues to show up to teach and support all of her online students.

We miss seeing Jamie everyday in the hallways at Fillmore, but knowing her impact is still being shared with some of our students, makes us all so proud. "

"Jaime always gives 100%,  her students love her and miss her when she is not there.  She always starts her day with what is going on that day and what is to be expected.  She is firm and loving.

This year, Jaime has come down with cancer.  Not only does she continue to teach online, she attends all virtual meetings, she's done a virtual class with her class here at Fillmore and she always has a smile on her face.

It amazes us to see how remarkable Jaime is through this trial."

Everyone loves you and is thinking of you, Ms. Helkenn! For being our QC Teacher of the Week, Ms. Helkenn has been rewarded with a B100 Prize Pack which included a B100 stocking cap, stickers, a Pepsi, a B100 Bluetooth speaker, and more things, plus an awesome cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes

Thank you for your hard work and dedication Ms. Helkenn! Especially during your fight!
