Rock Island Declares Snow Emergency Due To Winter Storm
Several cities and communities in the Quad Cities area have declared snow emergencies as this winter storm rolls through the area. The latest city to declare a snow emergency is Rock Island, IL. With this declaration, vehicles will not be allowed to park in certain areas or else they will pay the price.
Rock Island Declares Snow Emergency
The City of Rock Island declared a snow emergency on Thursday due to the winter storm. In a press release from the City, officials say that once snow depth has reached 2 inches, parking is not allowed on any marked snow routes until the snow has stopped and cleared.
Vehicles that are parked on marked snow routes can receive a $35 parking ticket and
maybe towed simultaneously.
City officials say that to facilitate snow removal the City is requesting that Rock Island residents not park on residential streets until snow removal is completed.
Republic Services, the City of Rock Island's recycling company, announced it has suspended all routes for Thursday. They will resume recycling collection services on Friday, February 17th, with a one-day delay.

Other Quad Cities Under Snow Emergencies
Other communities and cities in the area have also declared snow emergencies like the City of Davenport. Davenport's snow emergency went into effect from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Friday.
Vehicles parked on posted snow routes will be ticketed and may be towed once the snow starts, city officials said. Crews will focus on clearing posted snow routes until the snow ends. Free parking will be available in the city’s ramps from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Friday to avoid parking tickets or being towed.
The Village of Coal Valley also went under a snow emergency at 6 a.m. this morning and that will last until noon on Friday.
