‘Tasting the Rainbow’ Just Got Closer to the Quad Cities

Illinois is a new home for Skittles. I can smell it already.

It was all smiles this week when the makers of the popular, juicy, colorful and fruity, Skittles, decided to open a plant in Illinois to expand production.

While it isn't super close to the Quad Cities, Yorkville, IL. is about 45 minutes southwest of Chicago and will be the home of the new production plant. Apparently, Skittles are so popular the company had to expand to keep up with demand.

According to WQAD.com,

The candies will be made at the company’s newly expanded plant in Yorkville. The $50 million plant expansion was helped by incentives from the state of Illinois that included tax credits and money for training employees.

I smell a few field trips coming on... Or maybe it's just the sugary goodness.
