The Northern Lights Could Be Seen in The QCA This Weekend
According to the SWPC, the Northern Lights could be visible as far south as The Quad Cities area this weekend.
This is a really exciting possibility, as the Northern Lights are rarely visible in the QCA. Although it looks like I-80 is close to the cutoff line of visibility. For best possible viewing conditions, drive north away from the ambient light of cities and you could be in for a spectacular view from space. They may be visible tonight, but Sunday night is the peak time for viewing.
According to the Washington Post, a giant solar flare erupted from the surface of the sun on Friday night, and the result could be a epic nighttime show for us across the country.
