Hollywood has put out thousands of "love stories" for the masses. Some of them comedic, others dramatic, with a handful of shoehorned love story plots mixed in there as well.

While many love stories are flops when it comes to critic and audience ratings, some truly capture what the we the average people feel with love, and makes a great movie.

The Quad Cities seems to prefer comedies when it comes to love. We got our results from Mental Floss, Rotten Tomatoes, and Wide Open Country.

5. The Shape Of Water (2017) - Romance, Fantasy.

Many people found themselves in love with this movie.

Elisa is a mute, isolated woman who works as a cleaning lady in a hidden, high-security government laboratory in 1962 Baltimore. Her life changes forever when she discovers the lab's classified secret -- a mysterious, scaled creature from South America that lives in a water tank. As Elisa develops a unique bond with her new friend, she soon learns that its fate and very survival lies in the hands of a hostile government agent and a marine biologist.

4. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) - Comedy, Romance.

This is my moms favorite, and a lot of QC residence love it as well.

Two sisters who are opposites try to navigate high school and deal with their overprotective dad. Based on the film of the same name.

3. Bridesmaids (2011) - Comedy, Romance.

While I've never seen this one, it has incredible ratings!

Annie (Kristen Wiig) is a single woman whose own life is a mess, but when she learns that her lifelong best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), is engaged, she has no choice but to serve as the maid of honor. Though lovelorn and almost penniless, Annie, nevertheless, winds her way through the strange and expensive rituals associated with her job as the bride's go-to gal. Determined to make things perfect, she gamely leads Lillian and the other bridesmaids down the wild road to the wedding.

2. 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) - Romance, Comedy.

I kinda forgot this was about romance, but I kid you not the QC loves it!

Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is an amiable single guy who works at a big-box store. Living alone, 40-year-old Andy spends his free time playing video games and curating his action-figure collection. Despite his age, Andy has never had sex, so his friends, including the laid-back David (Paul Rudd), push Andy towards losing his virginity. While attempting to get over his awkwardness around female customers, Andy meets local shop owner Trish (Catherine Keener), and they begin a tentative romance.

1. Pretty In Pink (1986) - Romance.

It's considered a classic with a lot of fans behind it.

Andie (Molly Ringwald) is an outcast at her Chicago high school, hanging out either with her older boss (Annie Potts), who owns the record store where she works, or her quirky classmate Duckie (Jon Cryer), who has a crush on her. When one of the rich and popular kids at school, Blane (Andrew McCarthy), asks Andie out, it seems too good to be true. As Andie starts falling for Blane, she begins to realizes that dating someone from a different social sphere is not easy.
