The Red Cross REALLY Needs Blood Donors

We've all seen firsthand what kind of havoc terrible weather can wreak on traffic and social lives. Think about it; how many events or plans that you made have been canceled this winter because of snow or ice?

For the Red Cross, this is a bit more serious. Because of weather, they've had to cancel hundreds of blood drives throughout the country. That may seem like a relatively small number, but it means that nearly they've missed out on roughly 20,000 donations, according to KWQC.

So right now, the Red Cross could use some serious help. The organization says there is a severe shortage of type O blood, but they're always looking for donors of all blood types. Type O blood is the most common type of blood because it works for just about anyone.

O negative blood is a universal donor, while Type O positive blood "is the most transfused blood type and can be given to Rh-positive patients of any blood type."
