For many people, college is not only a time for studies but a chance to socialize. And a big part of socializing is of course, drinking. Parties abound on college campuses, and for those who can (legally) drink in a bar, college towns with a good bar and restaurant scene tend to make the college experience a little bit less stressful.

Let's be honest, Iowa is not always a hotbed for entertainment, but we do have quite a few colleges that like to get rowdy. Review website Niche recently compiled a list of the top party schools in Iowa, and many nearby schools made the cut, including Davenport's own St. Ambrose. Other area universities that ranked high on the list include the University of Iowa (not much of a surprise), Loras in Dubuque, Coe in Cedar Rapids, and Grinnell in Grinnell, Iowa.

Niche ranked the schools using student reviews of the party scenes, as well as an analysis of the proximity and availability students had to bars. Check out the top ten below, and the rest of the list here.

2.  Iowa State University, Ames
