Another day, unfortunately another scam. We learned just yesterday of a new scam involving people posing as employees from Koehler Electric. Now, scammers are taking it to the next level.

According to WQAD, this scam involves people pretending to be from the Henry County Sheriff's Department. The thing is, posing as a police officer in person is hard. So this scam is primarily happening via phone.

Per reports that have been received, the scammer called the victim and said they were Sheriff Rich McNamee and that they had a warrant for their arrest. In order to avoid being arrested, the victim was asked to "verify" personal information.

While Henry County police are taking care of things, they've issued a reminder to residents that police will not call people to discuss a warrant under any circumstances. If at any point the call seems suspicious, definitely don't give out your personal information.
