Traffic Alert: State St. & 12th In Bettendorf Closing Starting Tomorrow
If your commute involves Bettendorf, you should know that the I-74 River Bridge project will close part of State Street and will affect 12th Street, with the closure and work beginning tomorrow.
According to the I-74 River Project, the closure will be in effect starting tomorrow (March 16) and the State St. closure will last until May. Work being done includes reconstructing the intersection and working on the pavement, as well as installing new drainage and sewer lines.
The construction will be done in stages, starting with State Street. Thru-traffic will be able to use Grant St/US 67. You'll still be able to get local access and find your way to all of the businesses on 12th St and State St will still be open and there will be signage directing you to them. So if you're driving on 12th, you'll be able to turn left onto State St to get to those businesses.
The State St closure is between 10th St and the old bridge on-ramp but one lane will stay open for local access.
The work is expected to be done this summer, with the State St closure anticipated to last through May.
It's also worth noting that the project will bring in one more closure too, to help facilitate the work being done on State St. There will be a single lane closure on northbound Grant St/US 67 between 10th and 12th Streets. That will be in effect through the completion of the project.
