Arctic Blast Sends Quad Cities Temperatures Below Zero This Week

Hold on to your thermal underwear; temperatures in the Quad Cities are about to take a dive.

The snow moved out of our area and now it's time for sub-zero temperatures to move in Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities/Iowa Illinois, a round of very cold wind chills are expected to move in tonight into Tuesday with values as low as 20 to 30 below for this wind chill advisory.

It doesn't take an expert to remind you to limit your time outdoors and protect yourself against the elements if you have to be outside. It might be a good idea to keep the kids in a warm car while they wait for the bus tomorrow. Also, don't forget about the impact of these frigid temperatures on your pets.

Frostbite can happen to exposed skin in less than 30-minutes. Also, look for possible school delays and cancelations on Tuesday and Wednesday.

QC meteorologists say a new Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for areas north of the Quad Cities. They say as temperatures fall into the single-digits and below zero tonight, winds will push wind chill values down to near -20.°
