The Bix @ 6 runs are kicking off this Thursday as we gear up for the Bix 7.

The 6-mile training runs will be in downtown Davenport on four Thursdays leading up to the Bix 7. They will begin at 6:00 p.m. on June 23rd & 30th, and on July 7th & 14th.

The race will start at the intersection of 4th & LeClaire with a warmup on the Bittner YMCA's river deck for registered Bix 7 racers.

How It Will Affect Your Drive

Because of the races, there are a few traffic impacts you'll need to know about if you go through downtown Davenport in the afternoons:

  • Road closures will start around 4:30 p.m. on the Thursdays with Bix @ 6 runs.
  • 4th Street will be two-way from River Drive to the Bittner YMCA parking lot
  • So traffic won't go west of the YMCA parking lot on 4th

If you want to register for the Bix 7, you can do that here. That race will be July 30th at 8:00 a.m.

If you want to help out with the Bix @ 6 or run in it, you can get a free teeshirt!

Kids can participate in the Jr. Bix, and you can do the Quick Bix, Brady Street Sprints, race virtually, or enter the Team Competition. Details on how you can do all of that is here.

There will also be Bix Race Day Child Watch at the YMCA. Click here for those details.

Best of luck to all of the Bix 7 and Bix @ 6 racers! Running is not in my wheelhouse but I'll have a drink for you!

30 Photos of the Quad City Sunrise

What makes the sunrise so colorful?
According to WeAreGreenBay.com, "At sunrise and sunset, the sun has to pass through more of the atmosphere than when it is directly overhead during the middle of the day, thus more scattering of molecules occurs. The longer distance of travel through the atmosphere causes more of the blue-colored wavelengths to be scattered before reaching our eyes."

So in a shorter answer... Science.
