You don't have to look too closely to find acts of generosity and kindness in the Quad Cities.

Last Friday, an elderly man, stranded in East Moline, walked into the Police Department looking for some shelter for the evening.  He was trying to get across the country to his family in Paris, Texas.

After calling all the area shelters and learning they were all full due to the holiday weekend, officers decided to see what other options were available.

They called the Police Chaplain, who went above-and-beyond and allowed the man to stay overnight at a local hotel.

Not only did they give him a place to stay, but officers also bought the man a bus ticket to Paris, Texas and rounded up some food and other necessities for the guy to enjoy while he traveled home.

We definitely echo the community in praising the East Moline Police Department for the graciousness they showed this man and how hard they worked to make sure he got where he needed to go.
