It's a good thing school's almost out because apparently, Iowa is having a massive lice outbreak right now.

According to We Are Iowa, Lice Clinics of America's Iowa locations have experienced an 84 percent increase of cases between last spring and now.

The reason for the increase? Over time, the bugs have evolved to become resistant to over the counter treatments and people often don't realize exactly how fast lice can reproduce.

Lice are transferred through head to head contact, making transmission common when kids are at school, playing sports, and at sleepovers and camps.

Lice Clinics of America has locations in Council Bluffs, Dubuque, Des Moines, and Bettendorf.
