Those who use Jersey Ridge Road in Davenport frequently will need to find a detour as it will be closed starting today so it can be resurfaced. The project is expected to last roughly a week, but could be extended by a few days if the contractor doesn't finish in the projected timeframe.

According to the Davenport Public Works department, Jersey Ridge Road in Davenport will be closed starting today. The road will be closed between George Washington Blvd and Central Park Ave.

The reason for the closure of this portion of Jersey Ridge Road is to resurface that part. Officials say that the project is to be finished by Tuesday, September 8. If work is not completed in this time-frame, officials say that the contractor will re-open that portion of Jersey Ridge Road to two-way traffic during that week. The contractor will then return to finish the work on Saturday, September 12.

The Davenport Public Works department says that local traffic will be maintained during construction. For all non-local traffic, those motorists are encouraged to follow the signed detour and officials ask not to use residential streets to bypass the closure.
