New Eastern Iowa Outdoor Ice Rink Opening Soon [PICS]
'Tis the season!
You don't have to be a seasoned skater (or remotely coordinated person) to enjoy ice skating this time of the year. It's festive and fun, especially outdoors.
Bettendorf's The Landing Ice Rink is gearing up to open on December 15th. It's at 2255 Middle Road.
According to the city's website, it's 40% bigger than Frozen Landing, which was Bettendorf's old temporary ice rink that was set up and torn down every year from 2015-2022.
The 11,000+ sq. ft. ice rink will also feature concessions (hot chocolate, coffee, adult bevys), warming areas, and outdoor gas firepits. A Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be on December 16th at 4:00 p.m.
Admission for youth and adults is $5 and skate rental is $3. The rink's hours will be:
- Monday-Thursday: 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
- Friday: 4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
- Sunday: Noon-6:00 p.m.
The Landing will also include a state-of-the-art aquatic facility that's set to open next summer. The Landing Ice Rink's opening date, December 15th, is World Ice Skating Day. Mayor Bob Gallagher said in a release:
We are so excited to celebrate the holiday season with our community by opening this brand-new amenity on World Ice Skating Day, which is Sunday, December 15, 2024! The Landing Ice Rink is going to be a special place where families and friends gather to make memories, enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills, and most importantly – have fun!
