We know the future of the former Schnuck's and Marshall's location in Duck Creek Plaza in Bettendorf.

Did you want a Trader Joe's in that spot in Bettendorf? Prepare yourself for this bombshell.

The Schnuck's in Duck Creek Plaza has sat empty for over two years after it closed back in August 2020. It's a big space and many were hoping for a Trader Joe's grocery store to go into that location.

I hate to burst your bubble but it isn't going to be a Trader Joe's. Actually nothing even remotely similar.

According to a news release sent to KWQC, Kentucky-based company Jester FEC has bought the former Schnuck's and Marshall's in Duck Creek Plaza. The plan is to build an indoor theme park in the space. Work will start on that this spring.

(That's not a Trader Joe's in case you can't tell. But it is an indoor rollercoaster.)

It will have go-karts, bowling, miniature golf, laser tag, a large kids' zone, and more features. The company has indoor theme parks that are called Malibu Jack's in both Kentucky and Indiana. Steve Hatton with Jester FEC said in the release:

Our goal has always been to find a way that we, as entrepreneurs, could also make a positive
impact on our communities, turning what had been an eyesore or empty store into a place that
brings joy to residents and visitors alike. We love that challenge, and are eager to bring this excitement to families across the country.

The new indoor theme park is set to open this fall but an exact date nor the official name of the park has been released yet. You can see more pics and details about Malibu Jack's on their website here.

The push is still on to bring Trader Joe's to the QC, hopefully to Davenport.
