The 44th Anniversary of the Bix7 is nearly upon us, and the streets of the Quad Cities are flooded with runners training for the big day. But as you're getting ready for the race, maybe think twice about stretching for your warmup.

According to Livestrong.com, distance runners who stretch before their course can have a significantly weaker performance, and spend more energy compared to those who don't stretch.

Apparently, this is because runners don't necessarily need a large range of motion. So basically, it doesn't hurt you, but it doesn't help you. Worth noting: carbo-loading is also only a small help. But don't skip that spaghetti dinner!
