Davenport Middle School Teacher Recognized For Advocating, Helping Students

The Spring semester is going strong and as kids are working hard, we're going out again for our surprises with Ultimate Chocolates to highlight and reward a deserving Quad Cities teacher.

It's now time to announce this week's B100 & Ultimate Chocolate's QC Teacher of the Week!

Congrats to Sheanise Hughes, para special educator at Williams Middle School in Davenport!

Ms. Hughes was nominated by Kim L., who said in her nomination:

I would like to nominate Sheanise Hughes, a behavioral para educator at Williams Middle School in Davenport, for B100 Teacher of the Week.

 

I don’t work with Sheanise, but I know her personally and I know her heart. Her passion for helping students with special needs is not just something she talks about; it’s something she lives out every single day. She has an incredible ability to see the child behind the behavior and respond with patience, understanding, and compassion when it matters most.

 

As a behavioral para educator, Sheanise works with students during some of their hardest moments. She is often the calm in the chaos, the safe person a student can lean on, and the steady presence that helps them regulate, reset, and keep going. The work she does isn’t easy, and it often goes unseen, but the impact she makes is life-changing.

 

Sheanise shows up with grace, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to students who need someone to believe in them. She advocates for them, supports them, and reminds them sometimes without words that they are worthy, capable, and not alone. Williams Middle School is incredibly fortunate to have her, and our community is better because of the love and dedication she pours into her students.

 

Sheanise Hughes is exactly the kind of educator who deserves to be celebrated.
