Thank You, Edison Jr. High in Rock Island
I had the privilege of talking with students about radio this week.
This radio job has taken me on so many journeys and destinations. I've done things I never thought I'd be able to do and expanded into other areas, I never knew were possible. And it's all thanks to how radio has worked in my life.
I was happy to be able to share my radio journey, how I got here, where I went to college and how radio has both taught me and help me expand my skill set into other opportunities. I don't usually reflect on my entire career but I sure did this week, with a great audience at Edison Jr. High School in Rock Island.
Students in Dr. Meredith's AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) college prep and post-secondary opportunities class were attentive and curious about radio. They asked great questions and engaged with me about what it is I get to do everyday.
I got asked about celebrities I get to meet, concerts I've been to and how this job has helped me in other ways and in other opportunities. It was fun to talk to such an intelligent group of young people who are striving for their dreams.
I can only hope I made an impact and helped them see their potential. I loved being able to talk with them and hope I get another opportunity to do so in the future.
