This Is Why Bettendorf’s New Waterpark Will Not Be Indoors
Bettendorf's new waterpark at 'The Landing' will not be indoors and city leaders are sharing why.
The Bettendorf City Council met on Tuesday night to review results from the survey conducted about the new 'The Landing' project, including the waterpark. According to the Quad-City Times, about half of the comments sent to the city asked them to consider making the waterpark indoors instead of outdoors.
However, the city of Bettendorf won't be doing that because doing so could add $20 million to the project.
'The Landing' is already a multi-million dollar project that's set to feature not only a waterpark but also an outdoor ice-skating rink and a team-up with the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley to take over the Life Fitness Center and convert it into a "unique recreational center", like a youth gym.
The Quad-City Times says that the city council's meeting on Tuesday found that out of the 2,416 responses to the city's survey on The Landing, 1,229 requested that the waterpark be indoors.
The waterpark will replace Bettendorf's Splash Landing, which had problems this summer because of the paint used in it and ultimately had to close to public swim early in July.
If you have opinions on the project, the Bettendorf City Council will have two public hearings on The Landing. Those are coming up on October 4th.
