When I was a kid, my family drove from Eastern Ontario Canada to California three times. It was the ultimate road trip. Mom pulled us out of school for the entire month. It took five days to get there (6-8 hours a day in the car with three kids was my parents limit), we spent two weeks there, and then 5 days to drive back.

Though we drove through Davenport on the way west, I don't recall the Iowa 80 World's Largest Truck Stop in Walcott. Or, maybe it wasn't the world's largest then. Regardless, no one who has attended can forget the Annual Trucker's Jamboree at the Iowa 80 truck stop in Walcott.

According to the Jamboree website, "Since it’s inception in 1979, the Truckers Jamboree has been celebrating America’s Truckers. This event is a great place to celebrate and learn about trucking and those big rigs. It’s our way of saying thank you to the millions of truck drivers that deliver the goods we consume, whether it’s groceries, gas, clothes or cars — you can bet it was delivered by a truck."
