What’s Going On With Bettendorf’s Old Chicago? The Cryptic Signs Explained
Signs outside of Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom have created some buzz about the business.
Lately, the restaurant on Utica Ridge has been the subject of questions and rumors about possibly closing because they have had these signs on their marquee:
Oftentimes, when businesses post signs like this it means that they're closed or will be closing but with this one, you can't go off of first glance, you really have to read the whole thing. The rumor/social media question has been going around that Old Chicago might be closing because of these signs, but the restaurant has clarified that is not the case.
Old Chicago isn't closing down and the signs are meant to reflect their appreciation for a worker named D who has been there for 20 years and is now moving on. Which makes sense when you read the whole sign.
Even though the restaurant posted that three weeks ago, I still saw a question about it on Facebook just yesterday so let's clear that up. QC pizza and beer lovers, rejoice, you still have a place to get some yummy food since Old Chicago is going nowhere. They are still open from 11:00 a.m.-midnight Sunday-Thursday and 11:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. You can still enjoy their selection of pizza, burgers, and local brews on tap.
You can keep up with the latest from Old Chicago (which is at 3030 Utica Ridge Rd.) on their Facebook page here. If you need to give them a ring, you can reach them at 563-355-9494.
