Clinton Area Showboat Theatre Announces 2021 Schedule, Changes To Shows
Attention theatre goers! The Clinton Area Showboat Theatre has announced its 2021 show schedule. Officials from the showboat have also announced changes to shows, including moving of all shows to outdoor venues in Clinton near the showboat.
On the one year anniversary in which they announced the cancellation of our 2020 season due to the pandemic, officials from the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre had better news in 2021. They have announced the schedule for their 2021 season, which is being called, "Come Together," a celebration of the resilience and creativity that we’ve all mustered to get through the last year.
In the press release on Tuesday, officials also announced changes that will be made to accommodate their large audiences safely. Officials announced they with their larger shows, they will move across the street to the Riverview Bandshell in the park. Their smaller shows will be done in an "inventive set up" with the audience on the deck just east of the Showboat, and a stage built on the walkway perched above the Mississippi River.
Clinton Showboat officials said that both of these outdoor stages will allow audiences to be seated in small groups, safely distanced from other groups with enough room for their season subscribers.
Official say the reason for moving shows outdoors is because the space on the boat is a relatively intimate space. The press release said the
"...the only way to create a venue that can accommodate the thousands of theatregoers we see each summer, whether or not they are vaccinated..."
Officials want to make the experience as pleasant as possible, and to do so, they will have performances begin at 8:00 p.m. This is different than the normal rather 7:30 p.m. start times. This change in start times is to avoid direct sunlight, and all shows will be two hours or less.
In case of rain, tickets may be exchanged.
Full details will be released over the next two months leading up to our opening night on June 3. Subscribers will be contacted by the box office in May with information on how to reserve seats.
