If you've driving through Davenport, Iowa lately, good for you because driving almost anywhere throughout the city seems to be impossible. Sure, these repairs need to be done and things break, but does it really need to happen all at once?

It seems the best way to through Davenport is to go around it. I-80, I-74, and most of I-280 is the fastest way to get from point A to B even if point B is downtown Davenport. Alright, maybe I'm over-exaggerating a bit, but you get my point.

Driving In Davenport Is A Nightmare

You thought Halloween was over? Silly you. If there was a scary movie made about the amount of construction happening in Davenport, it would be titled: A Nightmare On Elmore Road. I know what you're thinking, "How can we change it to Elmore Street to make this joke funnier?", that's an article for a different day.

Ironically enough, there is construction on Elmore Ave and on Elm Street. See, the joke is funny now since we can steal the title of the original movie.

On Elmore, concrete patching is being done by Americore, LLC forcing the southbound right lane closed at Dexter Ct. On Elm St., there's a utility disconnect being done by JC Dillion making Elm St. closed between College Ave and Mississippi Ave.

Our friends at KWQC pointed out a good portion of the road work and road closures throughout Davenport earlier this week. Their article is pretty long but it's not even close to the amount of work still being done around town.

There it is. Your road rage is now setting in as you sit 12 cars deep in front of Eddy's Snack Bar waiting for the light to turn green for the second time at W Locust and N Marquette streets.

Want to see all of the work being done around town, who is doing it, and when it's allegedly supposed to be finished? Here you go.

This isn't a call to you to send a strongly worded letter to Davenport city officials or to call the companies doing the work and tell them to hurry it up.

It's a simple reminder that we're all stuck in this city together (literally stuck and I couldn't emphasize that more. We might need to call someone.). But if knowing that doesn't build a sense of community, then I don't know what will.
