Eastern Iowa Burn Bans Issued Due To High Winds And Drought
The final day of February 2025 is going to feel like a late March day in Eastern Iowa. We'll see highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s but it's going to be windy out there with wind gusts up to 50 mph. With the lack of precipitation this winter, things are also very dry out there.
Red Flag Warnings have also been issued across Eastern Iowa and into Illinois.
With all of those factors, this is a perfect mixture for things to catch fire, especially if people plan to have recreational fires heading into the weekend. To prevent this from happening, counties in Eastern Iowa have issued Burn Bans making fire illegal until further notice.
