It's going to be a busy few days in Bettendorf.

Bettendorf Police have announced a series of road closures that will impact roads in the city on both Thursday (9/19) and Sunday (9/22). Thursday is the homecoming parade for Bettendorf High School and Sunday is the Quad Cities Marathon.

Thursday Road Closures

The Bettendorf High School homecoming parade will be Thursday night. It will result in 18th Street being closed from 5:45 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Sunday Road Closures

Sunday's road closures for the Quad Cities Marathon will last longer than Thursday's and will be more widespread.

The route of the marathon looks like this:

  • North on 17th Street to Mississippi Boulevard
  • West on Mississippi Boulevard to Kimberly Road
  • North on Kimberly Road to Lincoln Road
  • East on Lincoln Road to 14th Street
  • South on 14th Street to Alcoa Avenue, then back North on 14th Street to Lincoln Road
  • East on Lincoln Road to 23rd Street
  • South on 23rd Street to Central Avenue
  • West on Central Avenue to 18th Street
  • South on 18th Street to Mississippi Boulevard
  • South on 17th Street to George Thuenen Bridge
  • Cross Bridge to Mississippi River Trail and Head towards Davenport

From about 7:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on Sunday, roads in Bettendorf will be closed once runners cross the I-74 bridge headed into Iowa. Then, they will go east on State Street to the intersection of 17th Street/George Thuenen Drive.

Police officers ask that if you do have to travel any of these routes, please be courteous and attentive to runners. Police will be out there helping cars go through as safely and quickly as they can.
