River Flooding Is Causing Road Closures (Again)
Just because it's October, it doesn't mean that the Mississippi is going to calm down any time soon. In fact, it's rising so much again that roads in Davenport are being closed. So if you thought your commute was finally back to normal for a few months...sorry!
According to KWQC, "officials said River Drive is impassable between Gaines and Myrtle Streets and between Pershing Avenue and Perry Street." (i.e. The water has come to rest over the entire road). As a result, traveling east on River Drive means you'll be detoured at Marquette Street to 3rd Street. If you're headed westbound, River Drive is being detoured at 4th Street.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like this is just a fluke of a Monday. City officials have said to can expect these detours to remain in place until the middle or end of next week.
Fingers crossed that once the river dies down again, that'll be it for the season!
