Bettendorf Sicilian Restaurant Announces “Indefinite Closure”
After being open for a little over a year, a restaurant in Bettendorf is closing its doors.
Effective immediately, Mio Russo Sicilian Bar + Table is temporarily closed, according to an Instagram post by the restaurant.
Mio Russo opened on March 18th of last year and, based on my visit, had very flavorful pizza.
The restaurant credits the closure to staffing shortages, which are an issue at multiple eateries. The Mio Russo team will go help at sister restaurants, according to the post.
As of now, Mio Russo's closure is temporary with no word yet on when they might reopen. But the post ends hopefully, saying "it's not goodbye, it's see you later".
Mio Russo (which was on 53rd, in the same building as Coffee Apothecary) had multiple kinds of pizza, including build-your-own, and they offered crusts in Detroit and New York Styles. They also had appetizers, sandwiches, salads, lunch combos, baked pastas, and a lot of specialty plates.
Recipes for Mio Russo's dishes come from their family. Per their website, the original Russo pizza restaurants were in Cedar Rapids in the 50's and 60's.
You can keep up with any updates from Mio Russo on their Facebook page.
Restaurants Closing In The QCA
Mio Russo isn't the first local restaurant to close lately. Blue Iguana in LeClaire closed a few weeks ago, City Limits Saloon and Grill in Rock Island recently closed, and also in Bettendorf, FoodAffair Bistro closed back in February.
As for Mio Russo, they're already listed on Google and Facebook as 'temporarily closed'.
