The Quad Cities Might Be Hit With A Literal Blizzard Today
I'm all for getting a blizzard from Dairy Queen, but an actual blizzard from Mother Nature? That's a bit scarier. But it's entirely possible today.
Right now, there's a just a winter storm warning for the area. Lots of snow is expected, and it's definitely going to feel like winter. But it's starting to look more and more likely that an actual blizzard warning might go into effect.
According to local meteorologists, the National Weather Service will issue a blizzard warning when winds hit 35 mph, there is visibility of .25 miles or less, lasting for three or more hours.
If we reach blizzard warning status, it will be the first time in four years! (And somehow, it still feels too soon).
With actual blizzard possibilities, it's important to be prepared. Be sure to have emergency kits in your cars, and full tanks of gas. We'll keep you updated as we are!
