Bettendorf Man Wins $50,000 From Scratch-Off
The Luck of the Quad Cities continues with yet another big scratch-off winner in our area.
Todd Rands from Bettendorf won $50,000 in the 'Power Shot' scratch-off game.
It's the game's sixth top prize. Todd got the winning scratch-off at at QC Mart, 2545 18th St. in Bettendorf and claimed his prize in the lottery's Cedar Rapids office on Monday, according to the Iowa Lottery. No word on what Todd plans to do with the dough.
The Luck of the QC
The Quad Cities has certainly had its lucky streak this year. Remember that huge billion-dollar Mega Millions jackpot just a month ago? A Davenport man claimed $2 million of that, which he's planning on sharing with his stepfather. While that's the biggest local lottery win so far this year, that's hardly the only one we've had in the last 3 months.
This summer alone we have had six local winners in the QCA from scratch-offs. In June, Christine and Mason won $80,000 combined from scratch-off games. A man from Eldridge won $100,000 from a scratch-off. Still in June, a Davenport woman won $50,000 in a scratch-off and a Bettendorf woman won $50,000 too. Then in July, a Bettendorf man won $10,000 from a scratch-off. Last month, a man from Clinton County won $10,000 on a lottery game.
I personally won the life-altering sum of $5 from a scratch-off this summer.
According to the Iowa Lottery, the game that Todd won on is called 'Power Shot'. It is a $5 scratch game that features eight top prizes of $50,000 and has overall odds of 1 in 3.45.
